His commuter van company filled the need for safe, reliable transportation.

Thousands of hours and $10,000 in cosmetology courses is what it would have taken for Melony Armstrong to realize her dream of owning her own hair-braiding salon. The catch? Those cosmetology courses taught nothing about professional hair-braiding. In 1999, Melony Armstrong opened the first professional hair-braiding salon in Mississippi, but her journey getting there wasn't easy.
